It is strategically situated between the Fedder Canal and the Ganga River, with geographical coordinates of approximately 24.68°N latitude and 87.97°E longitude. The town has an average elevation of 4 meters (13 feet) and is surrounded by Farakka to the north, Aurangabad to the south, Pakur to the west, and the Ganga River to the east. The Ganges River flows
to the east of Dhuliyan, and the Malda district and Chapai Nababganj of Bangladesh lie to the east across the river. In 2011, the population
of Dhuliyan was recorded at 95,713, and the town covers an area of about 6.25 square kilometers. The official languages spoken in

Dhuliyan Municipality
Dhuliyan is a municipality town located in the Samserganj block of the Jangipur subdivision in the Murshidabad district of the state of West Bengal, India. Established in 1909, the town comprises 21 wards and has a total population of 95,713 as of 2011, with a density of 15,000/km2. The official languages spoken are Bengali and English. Dhuliyan is a well-known commercial center, with various businesses such as the making and selling of Biris, wholesale and retail trade of various articles, and wholesale business of rice, flour, and spices. It is also a major government facility in the Samserganj community development block. The town is a significant inland water transport (IWT) trading point, and there have been proposals for low-cost barges to ply the Ganges river. The town is part of the Maldaha Dakshin Lok Sabha constituency and the Samserganj Vidhan Sabha constituency. The current chairman of the Dhuliyan Municipality is MD INJAMUL ISLAM.
